PROPOSAL TO THE VANCOUVER AQUARIUM
FROM THE COALITION FOR NO WHALES IN CAPTIVITY
John Nightingale of the Vancouver Aquarium has accused the Coalition
for No Whales in Captivity of proposing a ban on the importation
of cetaceans to the Vancouver Parks Board, that according to Nightingale,
would mean the "dismemberment of the aquarium one species at
a time."
Nightingale also told a Vancouver newspaper, "I have no doubt
that the group would take after other species in the aquarium".
The Coalition For No Whales In Captivity hereby challenges John
Nightingale of the Vancouver Aquarium Association, to agree to a
new park bylaw that will state that no more cetaceans (whales, dolphins
and porpoises) will be imported into Stanley Park for any reason
whatsoever.
If John Nightingale and the Vancouver Aquarium Association accept
our proposal and adhere to that new bylaw, then the Coalition For
No Whales In Captivity and its director Annelise Sorg will agree
not to campaign against the Vancouver Aquarium for any reason whatsoever.
