ACTION ALERT: Vancouver,
Saturday, April 21, 2001 @ 6:00 pm PST
Candlelight Vigil for Bjossa on her departure date
Saturday, April 21 @ 6 pm outside the back of the Vancouver Aquarium
DRESS: Black and White BRING: Candles and chairs
The Coalition For No Whales in Captivity is asking people to come to
say good-bye to Bjossa in a peaceful and respectful manner.
We will hold a candlelight vigil starting at 6 pm on Saturday April 21
outside the back entrance to the Vancouver Aquarium, where the truck
taking Bjossa to the airport will exit that night..
We are asking people to dress in black and white in honour of Bjossa
and to bring candles and folding chairs because it might be a long wait
until Bjossa leaves. We encourage you to make your own placards and to
bring flowers or anything you think is appropriate as long as it does not
create noise or block the exit.
We urge all individuals and other groups who are planning events to
commemorate that day, to co-operate with our peace-and-quiet-keeping
efforts. Please do not bring loudspeakers or megaphones and do not
interfere with the transfer of Bjossa. Doing something stupid like
stopping the truck would certainly endanger Bjossa's life.
If you can help by making phone calls to our volunteers and supporters
who are not on e-mail, please send me a quick e-mail so I can e-mail you
back a short list to do this week.
It will be very sad for me to see Bjossa go to SeaWorld, instead of
watching her go home to Iceland where she would find the freedom she so
much deserves. I know a lot of you feel the same way. Please join me at
this time of sorrow.
