Vancouver Sun Poll: Should Vancouver Aquarium Capture Wild
Animals?
The Vancouver Sun is asking YOU whether the Vancouver Aquarium should
capture seals and seal lions. Please vote: http://www.southam.com/vancouversun/cgi/poll.pl?file=VanSun%20Poll-1
NOTE: According to my records, we're up to 15 species of animals that
the Vancouver Aquarium says it plans to capture to replace Bjossa.
Polar Bear
Walrus
Arctic fox
Halibut
Sixgill Sharks
Steller Sea lions (have been capturing pups for years!)
California Sea Lions
Harbour Seals (stranded approx. 80 a year)
Sea Otters (2-3 on display now - last baby sold to German aquarium)
Northern Fur seals (rare strandings of this endangered species)
Shore birds
Sea birds
Hawks
Eagles
and of course: DOLPHINS!
I still believe if we don't stop it, dolphins petting pools will
replace the killer whale shows.

Thanks to Judith Seedhouse for the following web site address
"containing some enlightening, disturbing and detailed information
pertaining to the captive-dolphin industry. It should provide you with a
clear understanding of where Bjossa is going and what she will be
subjected to (as if she has not already been through enough)."

Please join us at the Candlelight Vigil on Saturday at 6pm outside the
aquarium.
